Duo Szabó-Flowers - Violoncello-Guitar

With their Berlin debut concert, the Duo Szabó-Flowers presents their own arrangements of both celebrated classics and exciting new discoveries for the cello-guitar combination. Featuring works by Astor Piazzolla, Franz Schubert, Petra Szaszi and Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre.

Composer Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre's music in the style of the French Baroque forms a majestic and lively opening to the concert, paving the way for Franz Schubert's famous 'Arpeggione Sonata', one of his most popular chamber music works.
In the hands of the Duo Szabó-Flowers, the sound worlds of these composer:s appear in a refreshingly new light.

A new piece by Petra Szaszi, written especially for the duo, will be heard in this program. Szaszi's powerful musical voice inspired the duo to collaborate with her on a new work.
The concert will conclude with two of Piazzolla's four seasons, Winter and Spring. Unique arrangements showcase the full range of the two instruments, vividly capturing the intense emotional world of Piazzolla's music and bringing the concert to a dramatic and energetic conclusion.

Ildikó Szabó and Jesse Flowers came together to form the Duo Szabó-Flowers after their successful participation in the 2016 German Music Competition. Their programs consist of both their own arrangements and new music written especially for their duo. Making music together is about exploring and expanding the unique and intimate sound world of the combination of cello and guitar.
