Das letzte Band an dem ich hänge

Contemporary Circus

The border between life and death becomes visible. We are constantly in search of a way out of this situation. In real life and together with the characters of the circus theater performance "Das letzte Band an dem ich hänge (The last ribbon I hang on)".

" "Das letzte Band an dem ich hänge" is a play about growing older, dying and saying goodbye. It asks about the meaning of life's existence, memories and transience.

Krapp sits abandoned and lonely on the stage; he occupies himself with his tape recorder and a banana. Is he unable to grieve and therefore depressed and drinking? Krapp is embodied by the wild and angry non-binary performer Cora Frost. The conflict between character and cast also represents the conflict between the power of the old white patriarchy and artistic freedom. A reality that can only be endured with humor, clowning and with poetry.

Cora Frost's voice, text excerpts from Samuel Beckett's "Das letzte Band (The Last Tape)" and the old reels and reels from the estate of actor Walter Ladengast interweave to create a mix of radio play and performance. Dealing with a new phase of life and the role that old things play in it are mirrored in the piece through the materiality of the architecture, the stage and the media.
To represent and overcome the overload of the individual with the codes and physical elements of contemporary circus is the motivation of this artistic work.
