A digital New Year's livestream from the Theater im Delphi
For more than 25 years, the lautten compagney BERLIN has played a concert on New Year's Eve. But 2020 is different. The lockdown has crippled the arts, silencing music in churches, clubs and concert houses. Despite this we want to ring in the New Year with our audience in this livestreamed concert. The theme of evening, featuring works of Johann Sebastian Bach, is RESURRECTION:
Resurrection through music, which offers comfort and opens emotional and psychological spaces. Resurrection also for the musicians themselves, who experience a kind of spirituality by playing music together. As such, this concert is a declaration of vitality from the collective that characterizes the lautten compagney.
Together with Berlin soprano Hanna Herfurtner, the lautten compagney presents the playful, powerful and witty composer Johann Sebastian Bach on this memorable New Year's Eve in a mix of historical and modern tones, with original and rearranged works. Contemporary and historical instruments work together to create new world of sound.
Hanna Herfurtner is a regular guest in the lautten compagney BERLIN :lounge concert series and who time and again demonstrates a virtuosic command of classical singing in combination with stylistic crossover.
