Hiding Place – The Ornament

Zafraan Ensemble

The realm of the flying kite fighters: The Zafraan Ensemble, together with composer Uday Krishnakumar and narrator Timsal Masud, takes the audience to northern India in 1903!

Hiding Place - The Ornament is an imagined performance practice with elements of shadow puppetry, narration and instrumental music that takes us into the world of a flying kite fighter in northern India around 1903. On his journey for recognition, the flying kite fighter must witness the destruction of previous cultural and social structures and, not least, question his art form. The composer Uday Krishnakumar puts the audience in a state of unique amazement with the extreme slowing down, expansion and superimposition of simple stories and melodies.
