A unique piece of transcultural music between Anatolia and Europe is back! OLIVINN present their new album "HAVA". Versatile, interactive and sensitive, OLIVINN combine traditional Turkish folk songs, European classical as well as contemporary works and improvisations under the musical direction of Sinem Altan.
Their new album "HAVA" is a return and at the same time a declaration of love to mother earth and also to the goddess of sunrise "Anatolia". Led by the multistylistic-painterly vocal power of Begüm Tüzemen and accompanied by the plaintive singing, chanting duduk and virtuoso Bağlama playing of Özgür Ersoys, the ensemble forms multi-layered soundscapes with "HAVA" that unite in the rhythmic atlas of Axel Meier and the orchestral piano playing of Sinem Altan.
"Hava" means "air" in Turkish and in the musical language of Anatolia, this term is described as the motto of a song or melody performance, much like the English "Air or Ayr" from the pre-baroque era. And so "HAVA" embarks on a musical journey between European classical music and Anatolian folk song culture, encountering Beethoven in Southeast Anatolia and the freedom poet Pir Sultan Abdal in bossa nova elements, Alevi folk music, polka and jazz, effortlessly combining the different styles in energetic instrumental work or polyphonic singing.
"HAVA" - a breath of nature in search of more reconciliation and forgiveness in the world.

OLIVINN boldly creates the transcultural art song of today. Composer and pianist Sinem Altan (awarded European Composer Prize 2015) weaves Anatolian folk music with elements and works of jazz and classical music and creates new sound worlds together with versatile singer Begüm Tüzemen, multi-instrumentalist Özgür Ersoy and Berlin percussionist Axel Meier. The quartet won the Young Ears Special Award in 2011. OLIVINN presented concerts for the German President at Bellevue Palace, Berlin's Radialsystem V, Ballhaus Naunynstraße, the Leipzig Trade Fair and Kiel Week, among others, and most recently performed at the Goethe Institute Ankara as well as with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn and the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra Essen. In 2016 they celebrated their successful debut concert "Classical Music Meets Jazz" with the legendary jazz trombonist Nils Landgren and in 2017 the successful solo concert followed as part of the Young Euro Classic Festival at the Konzerthaus.
