Music theater series inspired by the Theater im Delphi: PYTHO #5 comes as a staged concert for music machines such as automated accordion, automated percussion, kalimbas or carillons and light. This evening is all about cycles and loops. Repetitive structures and pulsating lights transform the theater into a larger-than-life musical theater machine. The title LAZY SUSAN derives from the rotating table attachments in - mainly - Asian restaurants on which food can be moved.

Under diorama-like image sequences, the slowly evolving music alternates between noise-based textures, harmonic fields, and rhythmic repetitions. In doing so, gamut inc draw on Risset rhythms and algorithmic processes from their recent album SUM TO INFINITY. Between these layers, progressions are constructed to create a perpetual-motion-like, ever-evolving continuum that triggers ever-new cycles. Eternity can be seen as the last and longest cycle.

The ancient city of Delphi is still known today for its oracle - originally it was called PYTHO. In the music theater series of the same name, the retro-futuristic ensemble gamut inc develops staged concerts and music theater sketches in cooperation with guest artists. The historically charged location of the Theater im Delphi serves as a source of inspiration for PYTHO: its architecture, its spatial sound, its history as well as its functionality are reflected in the forms and contents of the sketchy productions.

GAMUT INC The interdisciplinary ensemble around computer musician, graphic designer and composer Marion Wörle and composer and guitarist Maciej Sledziecki, is dedicated to electro-acoustic music, innovative music theater and machine music.
