Scholarship holders of the RSB Orchestra Academy introduce themselves

Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (rsb)

The scholarship holders of the RSB Orchestra Academy present a concert under the sign of the magnificent string serenade by Pyotr Tchaikovsky as well as Mozart and the Viennese School of Anton Webern and Alban Berg.

Once a year, the attention on stage belongs solely to the scholarship holders of the RSB Orchestra Academy. Each year they perform a chamber concert in small formations or even as soloists or in a chamber orchestra, then together with their mentors. RSB colleague Steffen Tast is rehearsing this year's program with the young people and will conduct the evening, which will be dominated by Pyotr Tchaikovsky's magnificent String Serenade. But in addition to a Mozart divertimento, the program also includes two works of the Second Viennese School, which in turn made musical history: the "Five Movements" for string quartet by Anton Webern, which are as succinct as they are experimental in sound, and three movements from the "Lyric Suite" for string quartet by Alban Berg. Both works exemplify how twelve-tone technique can be thought of differently: as a sound experiment or as sound poetry. Versions of both works for string orchestra will be performed.
